What the hell is a Wrinkle Neck Mule? A sophomoric phallic reference? Too easy. A pack animal used in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico to transport opium to America in the early 1900s? History channel worthy, but wrong. A band of five (or four, depending on the wind) from Richmond, Virginia carrying indie-rockish country music about the land? Eureka. Daily double.
Born somewhere on I-64 between Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia in late 1999
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
Tuning: Standard, CAPO 3RD FRET (ALL FRET NUMBERS AND CHORDS RELATIVE TO CAPO)
This song is a bit difficult to get the timing down correctly. It's also a weird song in general but a good one, too. It involves a lot of open G and C chords but hammering on different strings within those chords, allowing for simultaneous rhythm and lead.
GCG I confused a few people and whistled a tune GDD7 In the cold grass where I lie C And the beasts were all tame as we lay down beside them CG Light from the darkness shone in their eyes DD7 Oh that night GCG We were sedated and strewn on the ground GDD7 Like the leaves and the trees we were blowin' C And she was there too but she did not approve CG of the songs that we sang though we did not oblige her DD7 Her cries at night
CHORUS 1:
GD Oh that night, I woke up GCG and the river was burning, very concerning to me D off the cuff CGD It was a pale colored hue that night, I woke up GCG And the band was still playing, people were saying to you DCG Looks like the sky's on fire
VERSE 2:
GCG Me in the grass hon and you in your cap GDD7 I don't care much for your temper C But I'll come home with you if you'll get me a few CG Of those little pills that you sell by the dozen DD7 To my cousin
CHORUS 2:
GD Oh that night, I woke up GCG and the river was burning, very concerning to me D and off the cuff CGD It was a pale colored hue that night, I woke up GCG And containers were busting, very disgusting to you DCG That looks like the sky's on fire DCG Looks like the sky's on fire DCG Looks like the sky's on fire
VERSE 3:
GCG Well I confused a few people and whistled a tune GDD7 In the cold grass where I lie C And she was there toooooooooo......
(Repeat CHORUS 1)
DCG Looks like the sky's on fire DCG Looks like the sky's on fiiiiiiiiiiiire
