[verse1] AmF I wanted to follow you down G To your well-furnished cave and to laugh at your art AmF I wanted to tell you the truth G But I'm always afraid that you'll be torn apart AmFG Oh Say the word and I'll tell you you're wrong AmFGEmCD Oh Say the word, I've been waiting for so long
[chorus] DEmCD But when you talk, DEmCD there's nothing to hear DEmCD I'm always changing, DEmCD you're too far or too near
[verse2] AmF I wanted to tell her the truth G But I'm always afraid that it's not in her heart AmF I wanted to say how I felt G But I'm always afraid that she'll stop when I start AmFG Oh Say the word, when we're there at her home AmFGEmCD Oh Say the word, 'cause I don't want to be alone
[chorus] DEmCD But when she talks DEmCD She's all that I hear DEmCD How can I help it DEmCD You are always too near
