Imagine the Swan
by The Zombies
Composed by Chris White / Rod Argent
This is my first chords submission. Was looking all over for this "rare" Zombies tune. It was a single and
not included on a regular album as far as I recall. I decided to put my head to it and this is what I've
come up with so far. There are a few things I'm not sure about, so maybe others will fill in the areas that
are missing. Perhaps those passing chords are wrong? The bass walk-downs, etc.? Regardless, I hope more folks
rediscover this overlooked yet beautiful song written by White and Argent. --Jeff Engel
VERSE 1
F Gm C7 F
Well I have a picture in color of you
F Gm C7 F
And it's there in my room to remind me of you
F A7 ? D D7 ? Gm
So it was with surprise that I saw you today
Gm7 E E7 A
And I did not recognize you, girl, what more can I say?
CHORUS
F Bb Bb/A Bb/G
For the colors are gone
Gm F Am/E D
You've become kind of gray
D7 Bb Bb/A Bb/G
And you're not like the swan
Gm F
That I knew yesterday...
F Bb Bb/A Bb/G
Now the pictures are wrong
Gm F Am/E D
You've become kind of gray
D7 Bb Bb/A Bb/G
I imagine the swan
Gm F
That you were yesterday...
VERSE 2
F Gm C7 F
The sadness that I felt was hard on my eyes
F Gm C7 F
And the truth on my face was hard to disguise
F A7 ? D D7 ? Gm
So I let you walk by I turned out of your way
Gm7 E E7 A
And I tried to close my eyes And let the sadness fall away...
REPEAT CHORUS
