Relient K is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Canton, Ohio by Matt Thiessen (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Brian Pittman (bass), and Matthew Hoopes (guitar, backing vocals), during the band's junior year in high school and their time at Malone College. The band is named after guitarist Hoopes' automobile, a Plymouth Reliant K car, with the spelling intentionally altered to avoid trademark infringement over the Reliant name.
In 2000, Dave Douglas replaced Stephen Cushman on drums.

AG I'd better rest my eyes F Cause I'm growing weary of (F) This point you've been trying to make AG So rather than imply F Why don't you just verbalize (F) All the things that you're trying to say
AG Thought this would turn out so well F But I'm beginning to see (F) That instead it's trouble AG Into a pattern we fell F (F) Of prolonging the inevitable
[Chorus:]
C Why don't you A Come right out and say it F Even if the words are probably gonna hurt G I'd rather have the truth than something insincere
C Why don't you A Come right out and say it come right out and say it F What it is you're thinking G Though I'm thinking it's not what I wanna hear
[Verse:]
AG I better check my pride F Because I was starting to think (F) I was on to something good AG But things started to slide F And I sit here in retrospect (F) And understanding that I misunderstood AG Thought I could make up your mind F And then this decision locks up (F) So tight it couldn't be touched AG Thought you were being so kind F But keeping your mouth sealed shut (F) Rather than just opening it up
[Chorus] C Why don't you A Come right out and say it F Even if the words are probably gonna hurt G I'd rather have the truth than something insincere
C Why don't you A Come right out and say it come right out and say it F What it is you're thinking G Though I'm thinking it's not what I wanna hear
D And I tried C (1 Strum) To guess what goes on in your head AG Cause in your mind D I just might find CAG All those things you left unsaid DC (1 Strum) And I'll try to maybe not regret anything AG Later on after I'm gone DC You'll wish that you [A] [G] Build xx [G] Had listened to me listened to me
[Chorus: Single Strums]
C Why don't you A Come right out and say it F (G) Even if the words are gonna hurt We're better off this way C Why don't you AF Come right out and say come right out and say (G) What I know you're thinking anyway
