The Saw Doctors was an Irish rock band. Formed in 1986 in Tuam, County Galway, they achieved eighteen Top 30 singles in The Republic of Ireland including three number ones. Their first number one, "I Useta Lover," topped the Irish charts for nine consecutive weeks in 1990, and still holds the record for the country's all-time biggest-selling single. Renowned for their live performances, the band won a cult following, especially in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

GC Well I didn't see much future GC When I left the Christian brothers school GC So I waved it goodbye with a wistful smile GC And I left the girls of Tuam GC And sometimes when I'm reminiscing GC I see the prefabs and my old friends GC And I know that they'll be changed or gone GC By the time I get home again
Chorus: GCD And I wish I was on that N 17 D (Stone walls and the grasses green) GCD Yes I wish I was on that N 17 D (Stone walls and the grasses green) FCG Travelling with just my thoughts and dreams
GC Well the ould fella left me to Shannon GC Was the last time I travelled that road GC and as I turned left at Claregalway GC I could feel a lump in my throat GC As I pictured the thousands of times GC That I travelled that well worn track GC And I know that things would be different GC If I ever decide to go back
Chorus:
GC Now as I tumble down highways GC Or filthy overcrowded trains GC There's no one to talk to in transit GC So I sit there and daydream in vain GC And behind all these muddled up problems GC Of living on a foreign soil GC I can still see the twists and turns on the road GC >From the square to the town of the tribes
