The Byrds were a popular American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1964. They are considered one of the most important and influential bands of the 1960s.
Their music bridged the gaps between the socially and spiritually conscious folk music of Bob Dylan, the studio trickery of The Beach Boys, and the sardonic rock of The Beatles. Some of their trademark songs include pop versions of Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man and Pete Seeger’s Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)

The Byrds Wasn't Born To Follow written by Carol King/Gerry Goffin
GCGC Oh I'd rather go and journey where the diamond crests are flowing and GCGC Run across the valley beneath the sacred mountains and D Wander thru the forest C Where the trees have leaves of prisims and break the light in colors DGCGC That no-one knows the names of GCGC And when it's time I'll go and wait beside a legendary fountain GCGC Till I see your form reflected in it's clear and jeweled water D And if you think I'm ready C You may lead me to the castles where the rivers of our vision DGCGCD Flow into one another GCGC I will want to die beneath the white cascading waters GCGC She may beg she may plead she may argue with her logic D And mention all the things I lose C That really have no value in the end she will surely know DG I wasn't born to follow
