SAUNDERS FERRY LANE SAMMI SMITH
INTRO: Gm
VERSE: Gm It's 66 and cloudy here this mornin' EbFGm I'll make a bet those clouds will turn to rain Gm The weather's rusted out the sign
And almost missed the turn EbFGm That'll take me down to Saunders Ferry Lane
VERSE: Gm The creekin' boards of the empty dock
Are the only sounds I hear EbF The sign on the catfish stand says Gm "Closed till spring"
VERSE: Gm Summer drown in the frozen lake
As the winter came to life EbFGm And nothing moves in Saunders Ferry Lane EbFGm Nothing moves in Saunders Ferry Lane
VERSE: Gm Raindrops mingle with the leaves
That tumble to the ground EbF As I find my way to the spot Gm Where we once lay
VERSE: Gm But the grass is dead
The life is gone
And the birds have flown away EbFGm It's awful cold in Saunders Ferry Lane EbFGm Awful cold in Saunders Ferry Lane
BREAK: EbF The gentle arms that held me EbFGm And made me want tomorrow now are, are gone EbF We found so much comfort EbBb In the way we loved each other C Then the angels came FGm As quietly as the dawn
VERSE: Gm Standing by the water
In an icy winter wind EbFGm I find no present comfort for my pain
VERSE: Gm With no gentle arms to hold me now
I know there's nothin' worse EbFGm Than a day alone in Saunders Ferry Lane EbFGm A day alone in Saunders Ferry Lane
VERSE: Gm It's 32, and raining here this evening EbFGm I'll make a bet that rain will turn to snow Gm It's hard to see through the tears
And I almost missed the turn EbFGm That leads away from Saunders Ferry Lane EbFGm That leads away from Saunders Ferry Lane
