Portishead is a band from Bristol, United Kingdom, named after a small coastal town twelve miles west of said musical hotbed, in North Somerset. They were initially known for their use of jazz samples and some hip-hop beats along with various synth sounds and the hauntingly beautiful vocals of singer Beth Gibbons. Their current sound drops the samples in favour of a harder, more abrasive edge, but retains Gibbons' vocals.
The band was formed in 1991 (then later split in 2005 reforming in 2008)
Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
NOTE: Go easy on me guys, it's my first tab... it helps to play the chords at two extremes of the fretboard, to emulate the theremin's bend. one way that sounds pretty decent is to play A#m barred on the 6th fret and then the fingering of (0-0-6-5-5-4) for the F augmented chord. the chorus is easy just remember to alternate the 9th a few times until you finally settle on it as the last chord.
intro: A#mF+ A#mF+ A#mF+ BmF#m BmF#m F#m9
verse:
A#m Closer, F+ No hesitation, A#m Give me, F+ All that you have.
Chorus: Bm And it's been so long, F#m That I can't explain Bm And it's been so long, F#m Right now,
F#m9 so wrong.
Naked, My thoughts are creeping, Too late, The show has begun.
'Cause it's been so long, That I can't confess, And it's been so long, Right now so wrong.
Is it all as it seems So unresolved, so unredeemed, If I remain, how will I know.
'Cause it's been so long, That I can't be sure, And it's been so wrong, Right now, so wrong.
