"Everyman's Daughter" by Over the Rhine from "Good Dog Bad Dog" words by Linford Detweiler and Karen Bergquist music by Karen Bergquist transcription by Tara Kennedy ([email protected])
[A] Look inside for the elusive goldmine. Broken glass and a little cheap wine is [G] all that I can [E] find. [A] And bundles of contradictions, my heart full of loose connections, [G] hands across my [E] eyes. [G] I cannot [E] disguise I'm everyman's [A] daughter. Everyman's [Em] daughter.
[A] It's always the same old question. Who am I and whose invention? This [G] armour's full of [E] dust. [A] There's so much of us in each other. If I hate you you're my best reminder of [G] all I wish I [E]was. [G] I hate you just be[E]cause I'm everyman's [A] daughter. Everyman's [Em] daughter. Everyman's [A] daughter. Everyman's [Em] daughter.
[A] Who do you think [C] that I [G] am? [A]It don't matter [C] as long as [G] we can under[E]stand. [A] I am hurting someone [Em] just like, just like [A] you.
[A]Insulting the wounds of others, my sisters, my brothers, my [G]vision's way too [E] good. [A] I carry the inward aching. Like you, I too am naked. [G] I don't look that [E] good. [G] This is flesh and [E] blood I'm everyman's [A] daughter. Everyman's [Em] daughter.
[A] Look at all [c] the blood we've [G] spilt. [A] I can't deal with [C] all this [G] fundamental [E] guilt. [A] I am hurting someone [Em] just like, just like [A] you.
[Em]I Am [C]I Am [G]I Am everyman's [A] daughter. 2x Everyman's [Em] daughter. Everyman's [A] daughter. Everyman's [Em] daughter
