Four years of hard work! This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!
Depending on the version, the key changes... but on the official studio recording it's tuning with capo at position 1. The chord shapes here (play all the chords open!) are to the open tuning on the guitar. Don't forget the lovely little passing note - the D/Db the refrain, it really adds further to the melancholy of this beautiful song
G Oh mighty river D The Mississippi’s A Turbulent waters D Lull me to sleep
G Please take my hand D I will go gently A Your arms around me DD/Db You’ll me my man
Bm The leaves are changing GD I cross this road EE7 To make my last walk A In that warm sunshine
G Oh mighty river D The Mississippi A Oh all the trouble D Your banks have seen
G Carry these stories D From north to south A Around these parts D You’re westward bound
= inst = GDAD/Db
Bm Oh the factory’s closing G Kids have grown so fast EE7 Lift up their woe please A As you flow past
G Oh endless river D You’ve seen it all A Now do your waters D /E /Gb Have room for one more
G Oh endless river D As you transcend A Please take me with you D Far from this land
A Please take me with you D Far from this land
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Now all we have to do is learn to sing like Lissie(!)... I hope I've done it justice!
