My Golden Hill
D
I can recall sitting on top of a wagon- load of ear corn
G D
On a cool November day.
A
After a heavy breakfast earlier that morn,
D
Workin? hard to earn my pay.
D G
Been going since four in the morning
A D
Painted over-alls to shed the early dew
G
Tossing golden ears of corn without warning
A D
Doing what I was born to do.
D G
Half a mile corn rows, straight and long
A D
Nobody around but me and the mules.
D G
Shuckin ear after ear and singing my song
A D
Nobody bothering me, or making new rules.
D G
I am saying I?m on top of my golden hill,
A D
Sitting here on my load of golden corn
D G
To view the rolling prairie-when all is so still
A D
I am thankful for this land, where I was born.
