@SONG: In The Shelter @CHORDS: Mike A. Hall ([email protected]) In the Shelter By: Jimmy Buffett 1971
Intro: AEAE E In the shelter A In the mornin' as the sun is brightly gleaming F#m I heard her crying out, "What is it all about? EAE I just don't know, but I can't go back home"
E Lonely princess A All the days out on your own are growing empty F#m Nothing is going well E If you could only tell them how you feel AE But they're too real to understand
Chorus: A Too many trite expressions E Ending in forced rejections long ago A To many innocent faces E In too many far out places somethings wrong B Let me tell you that somethings wrong AE It's been that way so long, and it's a shame
On the street car To the city where she knows she may lose it all Riding for just a dime, takin' her own sweet time And knowing well that this could be her final fall
Past the boutique To the alley down the river, people pass her by She sits on a big gray rock, takes off her boots and socks Not knowin' what she will do next just starts to cry
Chorus: A Too many wild rejections E Endin' in angry questions from her dad A Too many T.V. dinners E Ah, everyone loves a winner, but she was lost AE No one knows the trials she had
(Repeat first verse, then) EAEAEAE Hell, I just don't know, but I can't go back home (fade)
