The following are what I believe to be the chords for Jimmy Bufett's "Distantly in Love."
DGAD Payphones all were ringing as the crowd went roaring by,
DGAD Lovely dancers swayin' to an island lullaby
DGAD Beside the southern ocean, taking thought of what's to be
DGAD Writing you this letter that you'll prob'ly never see
GDAGDAGD AD But I can't help but be ruled by inconsistancies, now you need this distantly in love.
DGAD Tried to phone from Paris, thinking things could be arranged
DGA D Me and you would roundez-vous, but I found your number changed
DGAD So I drove to San Ramos where the crazy painter dwells
DGAD Toasted our old photographs still up there on the shelves
GDAGDAGD AD But I can't help but be ruled by my intiguities, now you need this distantly in love
Instrumental |DGAD :|
AGAG I can't be the one to fill your times and all your places
AGEA I can't be the one to fill your blanks and empty spaces
DGAD I heard it from a friend of ours I saw in Timber Bay
DGAD You had a new lover who had stolen you away
DGAD That could be the reason that I never got in touch
DGAD He presents like problems if he loves you half as much
GDAGDAG DAD 'Cause I who can't help but be ruled by my intiguities now you need this distantly in love
Dsus4DDsus2
GDAGDAG DA You know I can't help but be part of my own philosophies, now you need this distantly in
D love
I've been playing this song for years, but I never actually wrote it down to send it in until now. The best memory I have of this song is when Jimmy did it acoustic both nights at Irvine Meadows in Irvine, CA on the '94 Fruitcakes tour. Anyhoo, Enjoy!
