------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I GET BY: Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: TheThirdDay Email: [email protected]
The songs is pretty simple, it's just straight power chords. Just a heads up: the chords are a mix of the first a second octave, so listen to the song find out exactly which chords to play. Special thanks [email protected], who's tab of this was used as a starting point. But basically, I tabbed it myself outside of the verse riff, so any mistakes are most likely my fault. Any questions/comments/corrections should be directed to [email protected].
Lyrics straight from Honest Bob's site.

Intro: BEF#EB x2
BEF#EB If I had you I'd hold you like a guitar EF#EB I could slay you with a well-placed F sharp barre D# If you don't want to hear that tune I'll leave my fingers where they are
G#EG#E And every time I see your face I want to touch it G#E And I know I'll never touch it G#EC# I get by, I get by
A#BG#F#C# F# And I can't tell how hard I tried A#BG#F#C# F# I can't reveal what I can't hide A#BG#F#C# E I said that I was fine, I lied BA#G#F#CE But I can stick around and see you smile from the side
(same chords for verse and chorus 2)
I say William Shakespeare had the right idea Put your passion in a poem she won't hear If your heart is whole again you can publish it next year And every time I see your neck I want to kiss it And I know I'll never kiss it I get by, I get by
And I've been in my head too long To know when what I think is wrong But I can write another song And I can stick around and see you as you sing along
F#BEC#F#DE F#BEC#F#DEF#A#D#G#
F#BEC#F#DEEF# I had another set of words to use instead of what I'm singing here BEC#F#DEF# The rhymes were intricate and every line was filled with alliteration and A#D#G# the best poetic tricks F#BEC#F#DEEF# It demonstrated just how clearly I'm the perfect guy for you to hear BEC#F#DEF# But in reality perfection isn't really what we want so we just A#D#G# throw words at the page and we F#C#EBF# Call it a masterpiece if any part of it sticks
F#C#EEEEE < F#, C#, low E, high E, low E, high E, low E F#C#EEEE EF# I've been waiting on another bright idea (listen to the song to get the timing)
(repeat, slowly speeding up)
BC#F#EB I've been working on a song that you won't hear C#F#EB I've been working on a song that you won't hear C#FEB I've been working on a song for you, dear C#F#EB And everybody tells me that I'm fine C#F#EB And everybody tells me not to mind C#F#EB And everybody says just toe the line C#EEF#EEF#EEFE And everybody tells me that the world was made for me to play in (^ low E, high E, F#) but I don't believe them
