Gram Parsons (November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist born Ingram Cecil Connor, III. A solo artist as well as a member of The International Submarine Band, The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, he is best known for a series of recordings which anticipate the country rock of the 1970s and the alt-country movement that began in the 80s. Parsons was a close friend of Keith Richards and is also credited for turning the Rolling Stones onto country music in their 'Let it Bleed'-era.

HOW MUCH I'VE LIED Gram Parsons, 1973
(this is a whole step lower on the record, but I like this key for playablity and singability.)

GDGC Darling, there is something I must tell you, you must know. EmAD But it's so hard to say the words I feel. CGC This fancy that I'm on has been going on too long. EmCD It's time we stopped pretending things are real.
GDGC 'Cause I've been living deep in sin. I've been living blind. EmAD And I don't know just what's right or wrong. CGC To take a chance on losing you was such a silly thing to do. EmCD The chance I might wake up and find you gone.
CDGC Blue, so blue, my love is burning blue. EmAmCD Any brighter flame would be a lie. CDGC Blue, so blue, my love still burns for you, EmCD But I know that I'll only make you cry.
GDGC A thief can only steal from you. He cannot break your heart. EmAD He'll never touch the precious things inside. CGC So one like you should surely be miles and miles away from me, EmCDG Then you'd never care how much I've lied. CGC So try to understand the pain. It takes so long when I explain. EmCDG Please, don't you forget how much I've lied.
