hello there, I'm very sad that she never taught anybody how to play this song, and nobody really figured it out.
this is the best I can do. it's not perfect, but its close enough to be fudge-able.
hopefully somebody with a better ear can figure the rest out.
if I ever meet her again I'll ask how to play it.
there's also another way to play it (maybe somebody else can have a go at it):

C G Am F
verse1:
C G
Hello there, I'm the one who's waving at ya
Am F
and I have something I'd like to say
C G
Hello there, if you could lean a little closer
Am F
you could hear the secret I gotta share
C G
Get butterflies when you smile at me
Am
as you walk on by me
F
as I'm sitting here
C G
Hello there, can someone tell me what to do
Am F
because I'm lost with words when I'm with you
prechorus:
Dm Am
Maybe I like you just a little
C F
Maybe I like you, a lot
Dm Am
Baby I'm standing in the middle
C F G
Do you notice, do you notice me
chorus:
C G
Boy, don't you dare stop your smiling
Am F
I promise you the rain will stop any day
C G
Boy, if you're ever getting lost
Am F
you know my hand is not, too far away
C G Am F
from yours
from yours
do do do......
verse2:
C G Am
Hello there, if you would please give me a piece of your heart
F
I promise to give you mine
C G
Hello there, I'd guard it with my life
Am F
with safety pins and glue
Am F
and with masking tape and screws
Am F
and there's nothing you could do
because...
[prechorus]
chorus2:
C G
Boy, don't you dare stop your smiling
Am F
I promise you the rain will stop any day
C G
Boy, if you're ever getting lost
Am F
you know my hand is not, too far away from
C G
yours, you know the night has never been so clear
Am F
the milky way is swirling above us
C G
now, we'll be dancing in the moonlight
Am F
counting stars at great heights
one by one
one by one
one by one
C G Am F
tonight...................
do do dooo.....
C G
Hello there, my knees are skinned my shoes are lost
Am F
can't chase pavements if our roads never cross
