To get it closer to the original, you have to play with the "A" a bit,
work with a hammer on and pull off on the fifth string, changing from 2 to 0
and other way around (... and continue similar with the following "D").
Even beginners will have sorted it out easily while listening to the song.
Another thing i try to make the sound a bit "richer" with is a variation of the
transfer from the verse-ending "G" back to the "A". Let the "G" sound several
times but for the last time, slide to this here (2|0[or:x]|0|x|x|x).

A D G
You should know that it's cracked like thirsty ground
A D G
You should know that i've hung it all around
A D G
I've been through places you wouldn't want to go
A D G
Lost some love passin' through the tolls
A Bm G D
It ain't easy, to please me, now you will surely tire
A Bm G D
That's why i'm leavin', no trippin' on your wire
A Bm G D
I'll be lonely, baby, now when i do retire
A Bm G D
and it's cold where you were sleepin' and now my heart's for hire
A D G (4x)
...hire
A D G
You shoulda known when i was thinner than your sight
A D G
You shoulda known the way i held that kitchen knife
A D G
and the way i was fallen to the ground
A D G
you found out when you heard that ugly sound
A D G
... heard that ugly sound
Em A
Have i loved enough
Em A
Have i loved too much
Em A
Am i about as heart for hire
Em G
No pitting polish scrub
