With a musical foundation is in Gospel and Jazz, Winnipeg-chanteuse Jaylene Johnson had planned on a debut CD of Jazz and Gospel standards. As she would soon find out, however, the path she planned would take her for some unexpected turns. Winnipeg producer Lloyd Peterson fortuitously encouraged Johnson to write her own music. Johnson took on this challenge releasing “Not Forgotten” in 2000. Her song “Daughter” from that disc was awarded a Song of the Year award from the US Gospel Music Association in 2002.
