Jacob Herman Frederik Fischer (born Utrecht, The Netherlands, 18 april 1938) is a Dutch-language singer and songwriter, who - as Jaap Fischer - enjoyed huge success as a folk and protest singer, known for his witty, provocative songs in the Dutch language. Hugely popular amongst university students, Fischer decided to 'go underground' in 1964: he stopped performing and there were rumors that he had committed suicide or gone mad.
