The Name: In the 1700’s, preachers such as Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, and John Wesley were gripped by the Holy Spirit to share the message of Jesus to the world. The effects were so powerful that a “Great Awakening” took place on a global level. This worldwide movement of God was the FIRST WAVE. In the “Second Great Awakening”, world leaders such as D.L. Moody, Charles Finney and others were zealous men for the gospel and went to great length to share the message of Christ.
